Stripes to take on Qormi

by Ayrton Galea - 10th April 2015

Birkirkara FC will be seeking to strengthen their grip on the second place of the BOV Premier League while turning on the heat on leaders Hibernians FC, when this evening they take on the unpredictable Qormi FC.

Last Sunday the Stripes scored twice in the first-half, to overcome the challenge of Tarxien Rainbows and extend their unbeaten run in the league to sixteen matches. The win also ensured that they keep pace with Hibernians, and this evening's fixture can put them six points under Hibernians, before the latter face Sliema Wanderers on Sunday.

On the other hand, Qormi, brimming with confidence after their display against Sliema, will be seeking to return to winning ways and move further away from the relegation zone. They are in ninth place, two points over Pieta and Zebbug, and three over bottom-placed Tarxien.

Birkirkara have emerged as winners against Qormi in both encounters this season, with identical 2-0 wins. Goals by Ryan Camenzuli and Rafael Ledesma gave the Stripes a late victory in the first round, while a brace by Shola Shodiya did it for the Stripes in the second round.

The match will be played at the Hibernians Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 20:00.

Come on the Stripes!
