'We are ready to give it our best shot' - Giovanni Tedesco

Birkirkara FC's Head Coach Giovanni Tedesco believes that his team is ready to give their best shot for tomorrow's match against West Ham United FC. Mr. Tedesco gave his pre-match comments in a press-conference at the National Stadium earlier this evening before tomorrow's big match.

He started by saying, “We're playing against a very good team but everything is going well. Motivation is high and we are ready to give it our best shot. We know what we have to do. We know we need to score at least once, but there's a difference between saying and doing. We are aware and expecting another difficult match.”

“In our last game, we were prepared very well. We expected their style of play, especially that they keep possession and send crosses from the wings. We have prepared for that style. Tomorrow might be a different story, but we are prepared for everything.”

The hot temperatures that have hit the Maltese islands in the last days might favour the Stripes, but the Birkirkara Coach is clearly not relying on this factor. “The heat is for the two teams. It may slightly favour us since we are more used to it, but nevertheless it will not change the difficulty of this match.

Following a respactable result away from home, it was with little surprise that enthusiasm continued to grow for this match and latest updates confirms that more than twelve thousand tickets have been sold with more tickets are expected to be sold tomorrow before the match.

While the Birkirkara Coach is hoping for maximum support, he is aware that the task remains a difficult one. “Definitely that the large crowd expected for tomorrow's match is going to help us a lot. We know that in matches like these, you cannot only rely on the support, but they will give us a big help. We hope that they will give us their maximum support.”

Tedesco said, “Matches against clubs like West Ham are considered to be extraordinary for Maltese Football, but we want to change that. Our performances in Armenia and at Upton Park, and performances by other Maltese Clubs shows that Maltese football could improve. We must make matches like these a routine not a one-off match”

Coach Tedesco will be hoping for a full-squad selection but he is still monitoring the condition of some of his players. Paul Fenech is still recovering from a knock he suffered in the first match, while Fabrizio Miccoli and Rowen Muscat are also recovering from minor injuries. All three players have trained individually in the last days and Mr. Tedesco is expected to choose his starting selection tomorrow.

The match will be played tomorrow evening at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick-off at 20:45.
