Birkirkara FC signs Waldemar Acosta

by Ivan Mizzi - 19th January 2018

Birkirkara FC continued their recruitment drive in the January Transfer Market, when just a few moments ago they completed their fourth major signing as forward Waldemar Acosta signed a contract till the end of Season 2017-2018.

Waldemar hails from Uruguay and he is 31 years old. Standing at 187cm tall, the towering forward is described as a prodigious finisher, whose best attribute is that of being in the right position inside the box.

He was playing last with LDU de Portoviejo in the second tier of Ecuador. Joining them in March 2017, Waldemar was an exceptional player for the team as he was the team's best scorer with eleven goals, while providing seven assists, which was also the most in his team.

The prolific scorer has played most of his career in Ecuador, in both the first and second tier. However, he has also played in the top division of Mexico, in the first and second tier of Uruguay as well as in the top division of Guatemala.

Waldemar becomes the fourth major signing in this transfer window, following the signing of goalkeeper Kristijan Naumovski, defender Fernando Barbosa and offensive player Srdjan Dimitrov.

We would like to welcome Waldemar with our Club while wishing him all the best of luck in this adventure.
