BOV Premier League - Sliema Wanderers FC vs. Birkirkara FC

Birkirkara FC will be back in action after the international break this afternoon when they will face Sliema Wanderers FC in a direct match between two teams aspiring the finish in the top four of the BOV Premier League.
The Stripes' unbeaten run of four matches came to an end in the last match before the international break as they suffered narrow defeat against Hamrun Spartans FC. This defeat condemned the Stripes to slip to the sixth place.
Birkirkara had to deal with the unexpected exit of Sporting Director John Arne Riise who resigned for personal reasons on Wednesday and the charge of the team was handed to Coach Mark Buttigieg.
The new Birkirkara Coach, who was serving as an assistant coach since joining our club, will be handed a tough task as the Stripes continue the tough battle to secure a place in European competitions next season.
With just two points separating Birkirkara and Sliema Wanderers, a victory for the Stripes will lift them to the fifth place, just one point behind Hamrun Spartans who defeated Qormi FC with a 2-1 score on Friday evening.
Sliema Wanderers are unbeaten in the last seven matches, despite winning just three matches with the other four matches ending in a draw. They are coming from a 2-2 draw against Hibernians FC.
Coach Mark Buttigieg must do without the services of midfielder Terence Agius after the latter was sent off with a straight card in the last match against Hamrun Spartans FC.
A brace by the team's top scorer, Michael Mifsud, earned the Stripes a 2-0 victory in the first round.
The match will be played at the National Stadium and it will kick off at 14:00.
