On Wednesday night, four goals by fierce rivals Valletta simply weren't enough to stop thousands of Birkirkara FC fans from flocking down to Valley Road to celebrate Birkirkara's third Premier League title. With 'the Stripes' already sure of this acquisition, the game against the 'Lillywhites' was just a formality, as our supporters filled-up our half of the enclosure and the millennium stand together with a section of the North Stand.

A hattrick by Terrence Scerri and another splendid free-kick by Edmond Agius for our opponents, were met by scenes of joy by our supporters, who sarcastically celebrated each useless goal that the City players scored.

Valletta took the lead on twenty-three minutes, when Scerri was served in the box, before slotting the ball past Mora. The score read 2-0, when on forty-three minutes, Edmond Agius unleashed a splendid direct free-kick which flew towards the corner of the net.

Soon after the restart, Birkirkara's captain and best ever top scorer, Michael Galea reduced to deficit to a single goal as he beat Hogg from close range, which resulted in a phenomenal eruption of joy in the Birkirkara side.

Two minutes later, Scerri was served by Bezzina, with the former controlling the ball before slotting it home.

Half an hour before the end of the match, in-form Trevor Cilia found Dutch striker Sylvano Comvalius, with Birkirkara's top scorer of the season finding the net once again.

The last goal of the match was scored yet again by Scerri, who on sixty-five minutes managed to beat substitute Omar Borg who was replacing an injured Jorge Mora.

The final whistle of the match, and of the season signaled that it's time for the players and the Birkirkara FC clan to take centre stage in order to be awarded with a prestigious and well-deserved Premier League title. A truly massive party was about to resume.
