Birkirkara vs Valletta this Friday

by Ayrton Galea - 13th October 2010

On Friday, reigning champions Birkirkara FC will be involved in the eagerly expected match against current leaders and eternal rivals, Valletta FC.

After three matches that were played so far, Valletta are one point ahead of Birkirkara. Both sides had started their new Premier League with flying colours, especially 'The Stripes' who managed to beat Sliema with an impressive 4-1 result, despite having numerous players missing due to injury or suspension. On the other hand, Valletta managed to beat Vittoriosa with three goals to nil.

The second fixture did not go so well for either of them, as both sides dropped their first points. First, Valletta ended the match against Hibernians with a 2-2 draw and one day later, Birkirkara were beaten by Floriana 2-0.

The third and final match that they played so far, saw both sides returning to winning ways as Valletta managed to beat Qormi by a solitary goal. On the other hand Birkirkara managed to achieve a dramatic win against Hibernians with a 2-1 result, when Emiliano Lattes scored the winning goal in the 90th minute.

So far, the two sides have met twice with the Citizens emerging as winners on both occasions. First they won with a 3-0 result in the Euro Challenge Cup, while last month they managed to deny Birkirkara the Super Cup when they notched the victory in the added time of the 2nd extra half period.

This week, Birkirkara registered the Scottish goalkeeper, Michael Fraser. This means that for the first time this season, Birkirkara will be in full strength spare the injured Brazilian goalkeeper, Esequiel Lovizon.

As we always insist, your support is extremely important for our boys. As they often say themselves, your support is the 12th player in the pitch. With your support, their determination will increase in no small way.

Transport will be available from Valley Road it will leave at 18:00.
