Birkirkara to face Vittoriosa Stars

by Ayrton Galea - 29th January 2011

Birkirkara will be going through another difficult test as on Sunday afternoon the current Maltese champions will face Vittoriosa Stars.

Last week, Birkirkara returned to winning ways as they managed to defeat Hamrun Spartans to the tune of 2-0 thanks to goals by Emiliano Lattes and Paul Fenech.

Vittoriosa also returned to winning ways as they managed to come from behind and win an important clash against Hibernians with a 2-1 score line.

A win is extremely important for both teams although for a different aim. 'The Stripes' cannot afford to lose any points in their bid to increase the pressure on the three teams before them, that is Valletta, Tarxien and Floriana. On the other hand a win for Vittoriosa would see them climbing to the 9th place above Hibernians.

The long streak of injuries for Birkirkara is not over yet, as tomorrow, Trevor Cilia will be ruled out injured while Michael Galea is still doubtful.

On a more positive note, the two new signings for Birkirkara FC, Andrei Aguis and Rodolfo Kumbrevicius will be available for selection for this Sunday's match against Vittoriosa Stars. Their International Transfer Certificates arrived two days ago and they have been officially registered with the Malta Football Association yesterday afternoon.

The match will be played at the Hibs ground and will kick-off at 16:00. Transport will leave from Valley Road at 15:00.

Come on the Stripes!
