Birkirkara to face Rabat in a tricky test

by Ayrton Galea - 30th August 2012

Birkirkara will face the newly promoted side of Rabat Ajax tomorrow evening, in their third match of the BOV Premier League. Birkirkara will hope to maintain their winning streak, to make them three wins out of three matches.

Birkirkara started their Premier League involvements with a comfortable 4-0 win over Melita. The second match proved to be tougher then predicted. Balzan played a very physically aggressive match which made life difficult for Birkirkara, but the latter weathered the storm, to register their second win, this time with a score of 2-1. To make things worse for ‘The Stripes' they lost two strikers, Shola Shodiya and Joselito Dos Reis, who sustained injuries in the first half.

On the other hand, Rabat Ajax opened their Premier League adventure on a sour note as they were beaten with a solitary goal by Qormi, despite an acceptable performance and they were unlucky that they hit the post in the dying moments of the match. In the second match they faced Melita, and it ended in a draw of 3-3, in an entertaining match.

Birkirkara and Rabat Ajax already met in the AME Cup which served as a preparation for the Premier League. Following being a goal down, Birkirkara made a strong come back and defeated Rabat with a comfortable 4-1 score.

Birkirkara will be missing Ryan Scicluna who is suspended. On a more positive note, Nikola Vukanac will be available for selection, following a two game suspension.

The match will be played at the Hibernians Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 18:30. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 17:30.

Come on the Stripes!
