Euro Cup ushers in new season

by Ayrton Galea - 20th June 2014

Arch rivals and main contenders for last season's league, Birkirkara FC and Valletta FC will cross swords this evening in the Euro Cup Pre-Season Tournament.

Less than two months following the dramatic BOV Premier League title finale, the local heavyweights will be facing off once again in this Pre-Season Tournament. The competition is aimed to aid the preparations of the Maltese teams ahead of their upcoming commitments in European competitions.

The Stripes returned to training in the beginning of June and they are still fresh from a nine day training camp in France to prepare in the best and most professional way for their UEFA Europa League commitments. The squad went through a very intensive programme with multiple training sessions every day, besides other activities that helped the team bond ahead of next season.

Birkirkara have retained their foreign defence trio namely Alejandro Mendoza, Matheus Bissi and Nikola Vukanac. Head Coach Mr. Paul Zammit is expected to test several foreigners who are currently on trial with our Club.

The match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 19:00.

Tickets are available from the ticket booths of the Centenary Stadium at €6 for adults, €4 for senior citizens and €1 for children under twelve years of age.

Come on the Stripes!
