Stripes all-out to keep on track when they face St. Andrew's

by Ayrton Galea - 16th January 2016

Birkirkara FC will be all-out to register their fourth consecutive win in the BOV Premier League and keep the pace with leaders Valletta and second-placed Hibernians, when this afternoon, they start as favourites against bottom-placed St. Andrew's FC.

Following the last match against Qormi, the Stripes continued to revamp the squad under the guidance of Head Coach Mr. Drazen Besek. Ellinton Morais was released while on the other hand, Croatian goalkeeper Miroslav Kopric and one of Malta's best young talents, Matthew Guillaumier joined our Club. These latest signings, along-side Croatian midfielder Mislav Andelkovic are all in-line to make their debut in today's game.

Birkirkara are in the third place with thirty-five points, two under Hibernians and five under leaders Valletta. They will be hoping for a slip-up from the first two as both are involved in tricky matches, as Valletta take on Tarxien Rainbows while Hibernians face Mosta.

On the other hand, today's opponents St. Andrew's are in the bottom place and they are still searching to earn their first point in the league. They lost all their seventeen matches and they are coming from a big 6-1 defeat against Sliema Wanderers.

Besides the availability of the new comers, Mr. Besek should have Mauricio Mazzetti back in the fray after he missed the last game due to a one-match ban after collecting four yellow cards. Goalkeepers Justin Haber and Philip Schranz, Edward Herrera and Ryan Scicluna are still all ruled-out injured.

In the first-round match, Birkirkara easily defeat St. Andrew's with a comfortable 4-0 score thanks to a brace by Fabrizio Miccoli and a goal each by Vito Plut and Ellinton Morais.

The match will be played at the Hibernians Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 14:00.

Come on the Stripes!
