Match Preview: Birkirkara FC vs. Floriana FC

by Ayrton Galea - 18th August 2017

Birkirkara FC will be involved in the curtain raiser of the BOV Premier League for Season 2017-2018, when this evening, they take on Floriana FC.

The Stripes has gone through a complete overhaul and they have a new Club President, a new Head Coach and technical staff, and a host of new players.

With only four players from last year's squad, namely Cain Attard, Edmond Agius, Edward Herrera, Matthew Guillaumier, the Stripes signed no less than twelve players, while goalkeeper Philip Schranz, Kurt Zammit and Ryan Camenzuli returned from loans to other clubs.

On the other hand, Floriana confirmed Giovanni Tedesco as their coach, and they managed to keep most of last year's squad that led them to the winning of the FA Trophy. Besides Ryan Camenzuli who returned to our Club, Justin Haber and Amadou Samb were released. They signed five new players while Neil Spiteri and Juninho Cabral returned from loan.

Last season, Birkirkara and Floriana won a match each after sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw in the first-round encounter.

The match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and it will kick off at 18:30. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 17:30.

Come on the Stripes!
