BOV Premier League - Tarxien Rainbows FC vs. Birkirkara FC

by Ayrton Galea - 8th March 2019

Birkirkara FC will be aiming for the second consecutive victory in the BOV Premier League, when they take on Tarxien Rainbows FC this evening in a match that will be played at the Centenary Stadium (Kick Off – 18:00).

Three matches without a victory punctured Birkirkara's progress to reach a top-four spot, but the Stripes returned to winning ways last Saturday and got back on the right track as they lay just one point under fourth placed, Sliema Wanderers FC.

The Stripes produced a fine performance, especially in the second half, to edge St. Andrew's FC with a 2-0 score. Luke Montebello continued to show signs of getting his best form back by netting his second goal in the last two matches, while team's top scorer Michael Mifsud scored the other goal.

On the other hand, Tarxien Rainbows FC are also in a must-win situation after losing the last four matches. They have nineteen points, two over Senglea Athletic FC who occupy the worrying play-off fixture against the third team of the BOV First Division League at the end of this league campaign.

The Stripes will welcome back Matthew Guillaumier back from suspension, but Maurizio Vella is suspended after collected his fourth yellow card last weekend.

Come on the Stripes!
