In the last friendly match that Birkirkara took part in before the new Premier League season commences, 'The Stripes' managed to beat Melita with a 3-2 score line in a match that managed to reach an acceptable level with both teams playing with a satisfactory level of football.

Melita had their first opportunity as a pass from the right found a team mate who tried his luck but, the shot ended wide.

In the 4th minute, Birkirkara had their first attempt at scoring as Paul Fenech had a shot which ended wide.

Emiliano Lattes shot a low shot which ended wide in the 9th minute.

Birkirkara took an early lead, as they managed to take the lead after eleven minutes with a perfect cross by Trevor Cilia which perfectly found his team mate who, then served Emiliano and he headed the ball into the net to put Birkirkara in the lead.

In the 20th minute, both teams had an unexpected ten minutes break as the flood lights were switched off and this problem took at least ten minutes to be fixed.

Birkirkara had another attempt at scoring which was neutralized by the Melita goalie.

In the 25th minute, a shot from Michael Galea ended wide.

Melita managed to equalize the score, as a shot from the right managed to beat Esequiel Lovizon for the first time.

Birkirkara retorted by a powerful long distance free kick from Paul Fenech.

Paul Fenech could have put Birkirkara into the lead on the 30th minute; as, during a one on one situation against the goalkeeper Paul had three goal attempts but, unfortunately, the final try ended too wide.

Hardly a minute later, a dangerous cross by the solitary Trevor Cilia found his team mate but did not hit the ball properly.

On the 41st minute Esequiel performed a good save with Vukanac clearing the danger, who turned the ball into a corner kick.

Birkirkara took the lead once again before the half time whistle, as a low shot from Emiliano Lattes ended into the net to put 'The Stripes' back into the lead.

The half time whistle saw Birkirkara having the minimum lead against Melita.

Manuel Bartolo cleared the danger in the 48th minute.

A minute later, a wonderful cross by Emiliano Lattes was perfectly found by Michael Galea, whose header ended wide.

Melita retorted back on the 50th minute but their effort ended wide.

Manuel Bartolo performed another save on the 64th minute.

Youngster Kieth Fenech served Paul Fenech who had his poor shot saved by the goalkeeper.

Keith Fenech was in action once again, but his powerful shot ended a little bit wide.

Melita had another shot which ended wide.

Emiliano tried his luck with a shot which ended wide.

Two became three in the 82nd minute, as Trevor Cilia advanced in the box, fired a powerful shot and gave the goalkeeper no chance.

Paul Fenech almost made them four when a powerful shot from outside the box was saved in a wonderful way by the goalie.

Melita scored the consolation goal exactly before the final whistle from a corner kick which was perfectly met, and gave Manuel no chance.

This was the last friendly for this pre-season before the Premier League kicks off. Birkirkara will be involved in their first game on Monday, 13th September.
