Birkirkara to cross swords with Hamrun Spartans

by Ayrton Galea - 26th February 2011
Birkirkara will be involved in the second match in this Championship Pool phase as tomorrow afternoon 'The Stripes' will face Hamrun Spartans.

Birkirkara are coming from a very satisfactory result as in their last match they defeated Tarxien Rainbows with a score of 3-1. The Birkirkara goals were scored by Michael Galea, Emiliano Lattes and Paul Fenech.

Hamrun Spartans also achieved a satisfactory result, as they managed to hold Valletta in a 1-1 draw, with the equaliser being scored by the player who the same Valletta loaned out this January, Dyson Falzon.

This season Birkirkara faced Hamrun twice in the Premier League. In the first round they shared the spoils in 1-1 draw but in the second round 'The Stripes' managed to beat Hamrun Spartans to the tune of 2-0.

Hamrun had won matches against Birkirkara. First in a pre-season friendly tournament and then in the Christmas Cup with an identical score of 1-0.

The unfortunate streak of injuries and ruled-out players for Birkirkara is not over yet as tomorrow Shaun Bajada is suspended after collecting his fourth yellow card. After thirteen weeks, Trevor Cilia is included in the eighteen man list although he is not yet in his best condition. Rowen Muscat is also suffering from a slight injury as well. On a more positive note, Angus Buhagiar should be back for 'The Stripes'.

Like every other match in the Championship Pool this is crucial match and 'The Stripes' do not afford to lose any points if their main aim is the Championship.

Come on the Stripes!
