BOV Premier League - Valletta FC 2-0 Birkirkara FC

Birkirkara FC lost to Valletta FC with a 2-0 score in the big match of the BOV Premier League on Matchday 16, as two set-pieces were enough for the Citizens to emerge victorious.

Valletta hit the post early in the match through Bojan Kaljevic, but the Stripes replied and went close on several occasions, particularly by a shot by Jorge Perreira that was blocked by goalkeeper Henry Bonello.

Valletta surged ahead just past the hour mark. Alba's curling free-kick was not held by goalkeeper Kristijan Naumovski and the loose ball fell to Santiago Malano who hit home with a low shot from inside the box.

The Citizens sealed the victory with the second goal in additional time for the second half thanks to a wonderful direct free-kick by substitute Bogdan Gavrila.
