Stripes aiming to move back on track

After being held in a draw by Hibernians last Sunday, Birkirkara will be aiming to return to winning ways tomorrow afternoon when they will face Championship Pool bottom-placed Mosta.
Despite last Sunday's match being a continuous up-hill struggle for the Stripes as they played for more than 80 minutes with one player less, the Stripes were denied from a dramatic win with a controversial penalty two minutes on added time after Birkirkara surged ahead on the 90th minute thanks to Shola Shodiya.
This Saturday's test might look an easy one for the Stripes as Mosta are still searching for their first points in the Championship Pool. However, nothing can be taken for granted in football. Birkirkara have no less than four players suspended. These are defenders Rodrigo Pereira and Alejandro Mendoza, and midfielders Rowen Muscat and Paul Fenech.
After last Sunday's match, Birkirkara added their tally to six matches without a defeat despite seeing their five-matches winning streak coming to an end.
After they were defeated by Sliema Wanderers in the opening match of the Championship Pool, the Stripes defeated Hibernians with a solitary goal, trashed Mosta with a 7-1 score, defeated Valletta with a goal in each half, and then defeated Tarxien Rainbows and Sliema Wanderers with a solitary goal, before last Sunday's draw, in what many considered to be the match of the season.
On the other hand, Mosta are still searching for their first points in the Championship Pool. Suffering loss after loss, the Blues are at the bottom place of the Championship with 17 points.
Mosta's last win goes back to the 1 February 2013 when they defeated Melita with a 3-1 score. Following that match, the Blues ended the 2 round with a surprising 3-2 defeat to Rabat Ajax and last Sunday's defeat against Tarxien was the eight consecutive one.
Birkirkara picked up maximum points available in direct encounters, as following a narrow 1-0 victory in the first round, the Stripes trashed Mosta with an identical 7-1 score in the second and 3rd round respectively.
The match will be played at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 15:00. Birkirkara Ultras are organising a double-decker to transport supporters for the match which will leave at 14:00 from Valley Road, Birkirkara.
