Stripes eager to extend unbeaten run

by Ayrton Galea - 15th September 2013

Birkirkara FC will be eager to extend their unbeaten run when they resume their Premier League campaign this evening, in a tricky encounter against Mosta FC.

The Champions will start slight favourites in this match and they will be pursuing their third league victory but they must be wary of the potential that Mosta holds as they displayed signs of improvement in their last matches.

The Stripes are still unbeaten after the first three matches. They opened their League campaign with a narrow 2-1 victory over Rabat Ajax, but then Sliema Wanderers held them in a 1-1 draw. In the last match, they had to struggle much more than expected to beat Balzan Youths with a 2-1 score, thanks to Matheus Bissi's goal four minutes from time to complete the comeback for the Stripes.

On the other hand, Mosta opened their league campaign with a defeat but they bounced back quite well by registering two consecutive victories in their last two outings. The Blues suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Valletta in their first match of the league. However, they then beat Vittoriosa with a 2-0 victory and went on to comfortably beat Rabat Ajax with a 3-0 score.

The Stripes will probably be boosted by the return of Daniel Zerafa and Frank Temile who both were not in the best medical condition for the last match. The Under 21 National player is still seeking to make his debut after joining our Club. The Champions will also have Jhonnattann Benites back in the squad after returning to Malta this week.

The match will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 19:15.

Come on the Stripes.
