Today's friendly match ended in a 1-0 loss for Birkirkara against Floriana. Unfortunately, 'The Stripes' did not give a satisfactory performance tonight and, it came as no surprise that the 'Greens' managed to win.

'The Stripes' once again, had several players missing, including, Shaun Bajada, Rowen Muscat, Keith Fenech and Alan Tabone. Floriana were the superior team throughout the ninety minutes, although by time the level of play by Birkirkara was increasing, however, this was not enough.

After two minutes, Angus Buhagiar's header ended wide after a good cross from the middle of the field.

One minute later, Emiliano tried his luck with a shot, only to be saved by the Greens goalie.

Floriana's first opportunity was on the 8th minute when a cross from the right ended with a shot that went wide.

On the 13th minute, Esequiel performed an amazing save when Ryan Darmanin tried to lob our goalie and Lovizon turned the ball into a corner.

Two minutes later another shot from Floriana ended wide.

On the 17th minute, Lovizon performed another good save which once again was turned into a corner kick.

On the 22nd minute, Esequiel seemed to be in great form as he performed another good save.

Five minutes later, Floriana continued to press forward when they won a corner that was cleared by our defense after Monalito Micallef made an effort which ended wide.

On the 28th minute, there was a perfect pass by Karl Pulo to Emiliano, but, his effort was too weak to beat the 'Greens' goalie.

On the 35th minute, Floriana missed a golden opportunity when the 'Stripes' defender failed to clear with a one versus one situation, Christian Cassar managed the impossible and ended his powerful shot wide.

Three minutes later, Emiliano won a ball outside the area and his shot ended wide.

On the 41st minute, Floriana took the lead when Esequiel Lovizon tried to clear the ball, but his clearance was not good enough to avoid Kiril Djorov who managed to steal the ball, however, his effort was blocked on the line by our defender, Ryan Darmanin who fired a powerful shot that give Lovizon no chance.

The second half was played on a slower tempo although the Greens persisted in pressing forward; Birkirkara had their chances where they could have easily equalized.

On the 51st minute, Floriana made another attempt for a free kick which ended wide.

On the 54th minute, the 'Greens' goalkeeper performed a good save that denied Birkirkara the equalizer.

On the 58th minute, Trevor Cilia made and attempt which also ended wide.

Two minutes later a shot from Paul Fenech ended wide.

On the 74th minute, Manuel Bartolo performed an impressive save when Kiril Djorov rounded three players before his effort was saved by our goalie.

On the 83rd minute, It was Manuel Bartolo's save that denied the 'Greens' their second goal.

This was the last friendly match for 'The Stripes' before the important and anticipated match coming up. The Super Cup final against eternal rivals Valletta will be played on Saturday 21 August and kick off time is yet to be announced.
