Birkirkara FC's Paul Fenech, was crowned for his electrifying performances throughout the 2013-2014 season when he was awarded with the MFPA Best Player Award. Justin Haber, Edward Herrera, Nikola Vukanac, Alejandro Mendoza, Shola Shodiya and Jhonnattann Benites also received awards during the same ceremony.

Paul Fenech had an excellent season as he played a key-role in the heart of midfield. Fenech was presented with the MFPA Best Player award in the third edition of the awards presented by the Malta Football Players Association at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard on Monday.

This year, the Award Ceremony was given a new dimension and apart from the Best Player Award, the MFPA introduced a number of new awards, namely the Best Young Player, the MFPA Best XI and also a special award, the Merit Award.

All Premier League players had the opportunity to vote for their preferred players. The MFPA executive committee, with the help of two Premier League club coaches agreed on a players' short list that in their opinion excelled during the past season. Only players who played more than 20 games were included in the shortlist. Each player was allowed to vote for each category but could not vote for players from his own club.

Justin Haber was chosen as the best goalkeeper. The best central-defence duo featured Birkirkara's Alejandro Mendoza and Nikola Vukanac while Edward Herrera was chosen as the best right back. Paul Fenech was among the three best midfielders chosen while forward duo Jhonnattann Benites and Shola Shodiya featured in the best forward line.
