Diosgyor's Patrick Bacsa broke Birkirkara's hearts three minutes into the added time on Thursday evening, when in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League, the Hungarian side defeated Birkirkara with a 2-1 score. Birkirkara played their hearts out after being forced to play a whole second half with ten-man.

Birkirkara to play Diosgyori today

Birkirkara FC will kick off their European Competition commitments in the UEFA Europa League this evening, when at the Nagyerdei Stadion in Debrecen, they will face the Hungarian side, Diosgyori VTK.

This morning, a contingent made up of 32 persons from Birkirkara FC, left from Malta to Hungary to play the first leg of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League. I have just arrived home from the MFA Awards 2014 and I felt the need to write this message. I would like to thank the MFA and the organisers for this evening's event. Birkirkara FC will be facing newly promoted Pieta Hotspurs FC in the first match of the new 2014-2015 BOV Premier League. The first fixture of the BOV Premier League will be played between the 16 and 17 August. The draw was held at the National Stadium in Ta' Qali during the MFA Awards 2014.
